SOME DAYS IT'S FUN TO

(Urban Outfitter's Sweater, Target Shorts, Shoes via Nordstrom Rack, Vintage Scarf and Bracelets and Rings, Forever 21 Necklace)
Some days it's fun to tame my hair with a scarf which doubles as a headband. Some days it's fun to look like an indie music loving teenager. Some days it's fun to be an indie music loving teenager. And some days it's a lot of fun to clonk around the city in some clonking shoes. Some days it's just fun to change it up.

SPRING!

(Zara Sweater, Miss Sixty Skirt, Forever 21 Necklace, Urban Outfitters and Guess Rings, Gifted Earrings from my Nana)
Look! No tights! Sunlight has found its way back to Chicago, which means we can all finally come out of hibernation and get on with our lives. Maybe we'll finally bring out some bright colors instead of these morose hues of black and blue. Spring break couldn't have come at a better time.
Sorry for no post yesterday; Liv and I are both sick. :(

PRINTS GO BAM

(Velvet Cardigan, H.I.P Tank, Eight Sixty Skirt, Hue Tights, Steve Madden Flats, Urban Outfitters Rings
I love the print and color of this shirt mainly because they're loud and I'm, well, loud. I think that fashion and style should let someone's personality shine through. It's a great way of letting people know what they're in for. For example, when I wear this shirt, the librarian likes to send me on my merry way before I can get three (very audible and quite loud) words in.

WHY I NEED A REAL COLLARED SHIRT

(Aqua Shirt, Gap Vest, H&M Shorts, Hue Tights, Aldo Booties, Forever 21 Necklace, Vintage watch and ring)
I drew a little inspiration from Liv's post for this look, however, in my mind, it included a crisp, white collared shirt. This shirt is a liar. It has an awkward slit on one side and is so flimsy that I usually just wear it to the beach as a cover-up. Not the best to wear in the winter. The next time I go shopping, I'm coming back with a Brooks Brothers shirt in every color. Hey, a girl can dream, right?

UNSUITED

(Uni Qlo Blazer and Pants, Target T-Shirt, Nordstrom Rack Scarf, Sam Edelman Shoes, Vintage/Homemade watch and bracelets)
I recently returned from an amazing trip to NYC with my mother. With my return, came an unneccesary amount of new clothes. In the months prior, I had starved myself from shopping so I could have the money to spend in NYC. I fell in love with this store called Uni Qlo, where I bought a lot of brand spanking new (and navy) basics. Yes, I know I look like a business woman, but it's nice to pretend I'm old and boring every now and then.

BLACK ASYMMETRY

(Nordstrom Top, Urban Outfitters Skirt, Hue Tights, Aldo Booties, Delia's bracelets)
I fell in love with this skirt the moment I laid eyes on it. The asymmetric cut made it such a great statement piece, and I was immediately racking my closet in my mind trying to come up with ways to wear it. And this weird spring weather gave me the perfect opportunity to wear something a little summery. Let's hope the warm days last!

HOLEY MOLY

(Urban Outfitters Tee, J Brand Jeans, Aldo Boots, Vintage Earrings, Bracelet from p45)
These jeans are the only semi-expensive ones I own, and on the first day that I got them both knees ripped wide open. Last time I spend that much on jeans. But, these somehow still manage to look great, and I've been on the search for something grungy to pair with them for awhile. And, as luck would have it, I came across this pre-destroyed and faded tee and threw both pieces together. Yeah, it may look as though I just survived a battle, but you should see the other guy!

Snowflakes and Shimmer

(Velvet sweater, Frenchi blazer, Aqua skirt, Aldo boots, H&M scarf)
It snowed. Like super thick 6 inches of snow snow. And I wore a skirt. Probably not the best choice in terms of hypothermia prevention, but flowers in the middle of winter definitely stood out. Not to mention the generous dose of sequins on my sweater, which kept me warm enough to survive another Chicago winter.

Fire Drill Photo Op

(Gap Sweater, Standard and Practice Jeans, Born Oxfords, Forever 21 Beads, Handmade bracelets and rings)

School likes to interrupt the most interesting classes with a fire drill, resulting in us outside in the freezing cold. And, with absolutely nothing to do but to wait, we figured we would take pictures! Again, you see my oxfords, really I promise I have a lot more shoes than this... a lot. I just really really love these shoes. Another fetish of mine besides these overly worn oxfords? Zippers. I just adore a good exposed zipper, like on this classic sweater.

Silky Sheer

(Urban Outfitters Tee, Jolt Jeans, Betsey Johnson Shoes, Forever 21 Necklace, Nordstrom, Forever 21, and dElia's bracelets)

This is one of my absolute favorite shirts. I love that it's casual yet elegant with the mix of fabrics and colors. These jeans also add the perfect pop of color to the monochromatic palette of grays and blacks (which is basically my closet). I couldn't live without them!

ALL BLACK AT COLOR CARNIVALE

(Elie Tahari vest- stolen from my mother and worn backwards, H&M shorts, Missoni for Target heels, Street Level bag)
Recently, my friend Carah turned sixteen, so she was dragged to Carnivale for dinner to celebrate. I went in all black, a contrast to the gorgeous and colorful interior. I don't think I've ever seen so many colors at once!
My mother lent me her velvet vest with this great pattern. It has buttons all down the front, so I improvised and wore it backwards as a shirt. I'm also in love with these heels. They're thick enough to walk in without tripping but manage not to look like something your grandmother would wear.
