Snowflakes and Shimmer

(Velvet sweater, Frenchi blazer, Aqua skirt, Aldo boots, H&M scarf)
It snowed. Like super thick 6 inches of snow snow. And I wore a skirt. Probably not the best choice in terms of hypothermia prevention, but flowers in the middle of winter definitely stood out. Not to mention the generous dose of sequins on my sweater, which kept me warm enough to survive another Chicago winter.

The New Yorker

(Zara Coat, Top, and Jeans, Aldo Booties, Forever 21 Necklace, Vintage Earrings)
January in Chicago means weekly snowfall and sub-zero temperatures, which make it difficult to stay warm enough to function. Luckily, the world has puffer jackets. I absolutely love this one because it's incredibly warm without adding bulk. This top adds a great pop of color to an otherwise gray and white outfit and sporting a little New Yorker love never hurt anyone, right?

Feature: Grace

(J.H Collectibles sweater, Aritzia skirt, Topshop shoes, Tiffany & Co. necklace)

Our gorgeous friend Grace showed up looking like everything we love: preppy, edgy and colorful. Once we laid eyes on her outfit, it came to us: features. In the future, we will be featuring people we see at school rocking their casual attire, or just on the street looking exceptionally excellent. Grace is our lucky first official feature, absolutely and positively working her navy blue rib-knit, hot pink pleats, and floral Mary Janes (so adorable we cannot even handle it).

PEPPERMINT MOCHAS, PLEASE?

(Rubbish Sweaterdress, Lily White skirt, Velvet sweater, Steve Madden Flats, Forever 21 Necklace
Wintertime means peppermint mochas are back in season at Starbucks, and they are always one of my favorite accessories around this time of year. Besides hot coffee, layering is a great and simple way to stay warm once the snow starts falling. This gray sweater is an absolute staple in my wardrobe because it's warm and pulls so many outfits together. Throw on a bright scarf and you're good to go!

DOUBLE TROUBLE: WINTER COATS

(Liv: Miss Sixty Coat, Steve Madden Flats, Scarf stolen from her mother's closet; Isabelle: dElia's coat, Aldo Boots, Jolt jeans)
Chicago likes to confuse us with sunny days and freezing temperatures. Luckily we know how to outsmart it. These are the black wool coats that every true Chicagoan has in his/her closet. The wool keeps us warm in the brisk temperatures but not warm enough to keep the snow from leaking through the wool.  Now that it's December, here comes winter: time to start baking gingerbread men and looking for the perfect Christmas tree.
